Business Studies

Curriculum

The aims of business studies are to:-

  • Encourage students to be inspired, moved and changed by studying a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study.
  • Allow students to gain an insight into related sectors such as economics and accounting.
  • Prepare students to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices.
  • Appreciate the range of perspectives of different stakeholders in relation to business and economic activity.

The Business Studies Course is delivered in a computer rooms where we make use of a variety of resources which include text books, interactive computer programs, websites, DVD's and PowerPoint presentations. Although lessons are taught in computer rooms and great use is made of these resources, a range of teaching methods are used, including group work, discussion, practical activities, written questions and other written tasks. A variety of trips are arranged during the course to give students an insight into how business operates in the real world. In the last year there have been trips to Coca Cola, Bank of England, London Metal Exchange, British Looseleaf, Disneyland Paris, Cadbury World, Fullers Brewery and Thorpe Park.
