The Religious Education Department Overview



Students have a lesson a week of Religious Education throughout their five years at Gaynes

In the past, students in Year 10 and 11 have completed a half G.C.S.E. in Religious Education.  

From September 2011 onwards we intend to enable all students to complete a full G.C.S.E. in Religious Education by beginning G.C.S.E. studies in Year 9.  This will begin with our students who enter Year 9 in September 2011.

A Brief Overview of What Our Students Study


Year 7 -
Students learn about five of the world’s religions; Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Judaism.  


Year 8

Year 9 -
Students begin Religious Education G.C.S.E.  Students will be examined in January of Year 10 and at the end of Year11.


Current Year 10 - Students are working towards a half G.C.S.E. in Religious Education.  This will be examined at the end of Year 11

Current Year 11 - Students are working towards a half G.C.S.E. in Religious Education.  This will be examined at the end of the Year.
